This blog is dead

... Almost as dead as DFO! *shot*

But, on a more serious note, this blog really is dead, or at least going to die soon. I don't update it enough to warrant keeping it and managing two blogs is too much. My original intention was to move my old blog onto this one and this one becoming my main one, but that never happened. It probably never will.

I will say that I am proud of the posts that I did make, especially the Duodecim one. It felt professional to me.

There's nothing else to be said here. For now, I will keep this blog up in case anyone wants to read it, but there will be no more updates. If you want to keep up with me, please read my main blog.

E3 and SDCC 2011

Hi all! With both these large scale conventions done and over with I feel I should go over what I liked in each one. I also stole one of Playfire's cool backgrounds. Anywho, let's start with Comic-Con.

Despite having some games each year, Comic-Con is actually more of an action figure/TV show/comic convention. Some games were shown, such as Lego Harry Potter and Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi, but that's pretty much it. There was a trailer for Tales of the Abyss 3DS, though. It was the same as the other trailers, just in English. A lot of people (namely the Tales Series Forums) didn't like the trailer, but I enjoyed it. Most were probably expecting new info on Tales of Graces f, but honestly, we probably shouldn't expect anything for a while. Tales of the Abyss 3DS is a port of a game that has already been localized and released in English. Obviously, Abyss 3DS isn't going to take as long as Graces f. Let's just be patient. We will get new info eventually.

Moving on, I was impressed with the gameplay of Ultimate Tenkaichi. It looked extremely fast paced, which would make the Raging Blast/Tenkaichi battle system more enjoyable for me. One feature revealed that surprised me was a character creator mode. While the idea of creating a DBZ style character sounds cool, the series is known for its characters, and most fans won't care for making a new one. Dragon Ball as a whole is my inspiration for writing, and so I love the idea of creating original characters in a DBZ game.

The only other thing that impressed me at Comic-Con was the action figures. With that said, let's more on to E3.

Obviously, E3 is the big place to be if you are a gamer. Even if you aren't able to go, you can still watch videos on the internet. There's no way to can miss anything, unless you just don't care.

There were a few games that interest me. Namco in particular stepped up their game and did videos for their YouTube channel covering their panels. I got the impression that their big game was Dark Souls, and rightfully so. The game looks like it's going to be harder than Demon's Souls, which may not be saying much. There's a dragon in the first level that's fire breathe takes up an entire room! I really want to play it. I worry that the game will make me rage, but I'm willing to play it anyway.

For me, the biggest game was Skyrim. It looks AMAZING. A lot of people agree, but I understand that hardcore PC gamers don't like it. I don't understand why. I think the main problem is that they are assuming that the game is going to use the same engine as Oblivion, which I'm pretty sure Bethesda
has stated that they aren't using the Oblivion engine. Besides, the hardcore PC gamers that I watch on YouTube are probably going to play it anyway. Moving on, the game looks very fun. The combat looks a little weird, but I'll judge it when I play it. Other than that, not much else, or at least I can't remember any.

That's all I have to say on those two conventions. I hope you guys enjoyed what I had to say, and I'll see you next time. I've got some ideas for good posts, so I'll try to get then done as soon as I can.

Dazzle Tutorial - Part 2

In this part of the tutorial, I teach you how to convert the recorded file into something you can edit.

I apologize for the quality. A better version will be on my YouTube at a later date.

REVIEW: Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

If you have kept up with me on the vlogging/blogging front, then you would know that I've decided to take a break from Dissidia 012 so I can finish Radiant Mythology 3. With that said, I've also decided to write a short, pre-completion review on the game.

Most of us expected a sequel to the epic Final Fantasy fighting game of 2009, but we didn't expect to get one so quickly. From the get-go, we were told that other fan favorites like Kain from IV would make an appearance. There wasn't much improvement needed, but what we got improved on a number of things.

The plot is, more or less, a prequel. It was created essentially just to explain why certain characters (i. e. Lightning) weren't in the original plot. To sum up the reason: They died. Not too cliche, but not too original either. What I don't understand is why the developers deliberately left out what Chaos-gone-Cosmos characters (Cloud and Tidus) and vice versa ("Sir" Jecht) were doing during the time of the game's plot. This is explained in the "Reports" section of the story, but it would be nice to be able see that part of the story without having to play a different story entirely. I have seen that there are two other stories available to play: The original Dissidia story mode, and an epilogue. I haven't played them yet, so I can't comment at this time.

Allow me to go over each of the new characters that I've played.

Despite what people are probably saying about her, Lightning's not that bad. You just have to give her the right moves to use, depending on how you play. Once I gave her my ideal moveset, she played pretty well. She's pretty much the star of this game, so everyone should at least give her some good attention.

Being one of the fan favorites, I was curious to see what kind of attention was given to Kain as a playable character. Overall, he's alright. A little slow and stiff, but fun to play as once you get the hang of him.

Next to Lightning and Yuna, Tifa is probably my favorite girl in Final Fantasy. Not only is she hot, but she's quick too. It's fun to pummel your opponent with her. My only gripe with her is that she sounds different, but is apparently still voiced by her English voice actress.

As a character, Laguna's badass, but I don't like him as a player controlled one. He's just not my kind of character. I'm more of a close combat kind of guy, while Laguna is ranged. He packs a big punch, but he just isn't my type of character to use.

Surprisingly, Yuna is good as both a ranged and close combat character. She has moves for both kinds of players, and can be deadly if used effectively.

Being the current only Cosmos "Tactics" representative, I wanted to use Vaan as much as I could. He's like Bartz, but without the whole "mime" thing. Not bad, but a little stiff and jaded with certain moves.

I haven't played as the others, but I will in the future.

The music is still good. A few remixes here and there. The remix of Chaos Temple is barely recognizable, though.

Sound the same? Not to me. It sounds like it belongs in Dynasty Warriors.

The voice acting has also been improved, or at least improved what needed to be. Steve Burton's performance as Cloud in the original game, while understandable considering the game uses exaggerated version of the characters, was a little too flat and emotionless. He has improved in this game. Not saying he was bad as Cloud, he was just mediocre in Dissidia. Every other Cloud he's done has been spot on, and this is coming from a Takahiro Sakurai fanboy.

In terms of difficulty, this game is tough. Some characters have been altered, possibly in an attempt to further balance the game. This makes fights last a little longer, but not in a good way.

So far, the DLC is interesting. I preordered the game from Gamestop so I could get the KH1 Cloud costume, which I did. I've never installed DLC on a PSP game before, so I didn't know what to expect. I don't like how the DLC is saved as a separate file. Personally, I would prefer the DLC to be installed onto your game save. That will at least prevent you from DELETING THE FILE TO SEE IF IT'S STILL THERE AROUND THE SAME TIME THE PSN GETS HACKED!!!! Sorry. I lost my cool there.

Overall, the game is good. A little too hard, but still fun. This is a premature review, so I don't have too much to say. I don't know if I'm going to come back and redo this review in the future, but I doubt it. Not much could change in terms of what I think.

I would also like to point out that, again, I'm not a gaming journalist, and shouldn't be treated as such. These are just my opinions, so don't take what I say as fact.

Yay! A purpose!

I finally figured out what I want to do with this blog. This blog shall be my gaming blog. Here, I will post video game reviews, previews, and any opinions, both structured and raw, on the gaming industry. I'm very excited to have a true outlet for when I want to write something about games. My personal blog was fine for a while, but since it is a personal blog, I couldn't really go in depth about whatever I had been playing. As for my YouTube videos, I got lazy and stopped doing the "My Thoughts on whatever game I got from Gamefly" series, and I only had so long to talk about whatever game I was doing. With this blog, I can talk about games without having to cram stuff them into my personal blog. I will still mention what games I've been playing, and what I generally think about them on my personal blog, I'm just going to go more in depth on this blog, and give more opinions.

In closing, I would like to point out that I'm no journalist, and what I say in this blog shouldn't be regarded as fact. While what I say may come from some truth, most of it will be my personal opinion. I am just a simple video game fan expressing my views on things. That's what blogs are for.
